Space Launches

Last year we got to show the kids at our school a space launch.  It was fantastic.  It was like we had stepped back in time.  For one day the students were not the crazed jaded monkies they usually are.  Instead they were genuinely interested in it.  We had nasa.com on the SmartBoard screen with the sound down for most of the day.  Students even volunteered to miss recess to watch the launch.  It was fantastic.

I love that space still has that appeal to kids.  They seem to move though fads and interests at light speed, but a few things like space and the ocean never seem to pale for them.  It probably didn't hurt that Avatar was in the theaters, but I'll take what I can get.

Writing with Ophelia

My daughter asked me if she could start a blog.  I'm getting old.  I definately wasn't thinking about blogging at seven.  I decided it would be a fun exercise.  I will get to watch her writing grow, and it provides a fun activity for us to do together.  We decided that whenever she posted something I would post on the same topic.  I'll occasionally post other stuff as well.  It should be interesting.
